Goings On

– untangling the web we weave. Gets pretty sticky now and then.- reprioritizing (trying)-

This year trying something different – weaning garden off all NPK organic fertilizer products. The goal is to not to purchase or use any organic NPK fertilizer products.  

Approx. 4 months and counting without buying or applying NPK fertilizers.- the heat is on. Temperatures soar into the century.- welcome. Lots of familiar and new fellow travelers posting comments this week. Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts, questions and suggestions. – small steps. Talking about how we can implement steps or revisit steps that have fallen by the way side to reduce our impact. – we’ve beentagged.

After six years of journal entries first time we’ve been tagged (well, that I can remember) Stayed tuned for ‘8 Fun Facts’
– SIX YEARS! July marks six years of recording our path to freedom journal on the internet.   Looking back at old photos and entries it’s amazing to see how all the little steps have added up.


Summer’s bounty

HOMEGROWN DIET

Here’s what we ate last week. (HG = “homegrown”)
 

SATURDAY

B – homemade buckwheat pancakes made with HG duck eggs with HG apricot sauce

D – homemade whole wheat flour tortillas and spanish rice (made with HG peppers, green onions, tomatoes) served with lightly sauteed HG peppers topped with HG tomatoes, cilantro

SUNDAY

B – homemade granola served with HG fresh fruit

L – leftovers from Sat dinner

D – HG tomato and cucumber sandwich with Greek Salad (HG tomatoes, cucumbers, basil) with feta cheese and homemade dressing

MONDAY

B – homemade granola served with HG fresh fruit

L – HG fig quesadillas with homemade whole wheat flour tortillas topped with HG tomatoes, cilantro, green onions with a side dish of steamed HG green beans

D – same

TUESDAY

B – homemade granola served with HG fresh fruit

L – creamed HG green bean soup with HG tomato and cheese sandwich

D – sun warmed, leftover HG green bean soup served on top of sun cooked brown rice with HG tomato and cheese sandwich

WEDNESDAY

B – homemade granola served with HG fresh fruit

L – creamed HG swiss chard and HG steamed beans served over brown rice

D – leftover served over sun cooked brown rice with HG salad tossed with homemade dressing

THURSDAY

B – homemade granola served with HG fresh fruit

L – HG tomato and cucumber sandwich with black bean (sun cooked) salad with HG cilantro, green onions, tomatoes and peppers

D – pizza topped with cheese and HG basil, tomatoes and peppers

FRIDAY

B – homemade granola served with HG fresh fruitL – HG veggies with pasta

D – HG salad, homemade spaghetti sauce (HG basil, peppers and tomatoes) with whole wheat spaghetti served with homemade bread
