These Are A Few Of Our Favorite Things
Out of the blue we received an email from a writer forThisNext who asked if we, urban eco-pioneers, had a few sustainable products that we like using around the urban homestead.
Browse on over toThisNext and check out over a dozen of “PTF Picks“… I’m sure you’ll enjoy the little blips under each product. I personally like the one about Jordanne reading the eco-manifesto from Dr Bronner’s soap.

Slice of Life
In the garden, the towering, growing on 10ft plus, tomatoes are continuing to grow past the bamboo tepees and are loaded with an array of color adornments, squash tendrils grab onto anything that’s not moving, mocking birds try to snatch the dark elderberries that hang heavily on the bushes…. the last hooray of summer is it’s full glory here on the urban homestead. Ground cherry, sweet figs and apples, meaty lima beans, squash, crisp peppers, dark eggplant and colorful tomatoes are piling up in the urban homestead’s kitchen, juicy peaches are not far behind…. A quick tally of July harvest total: 835lbs
The urban homestead kitchen has been busy, brewing and preserving. Already made up two batches of grape wine from homegrown grapes, elderberry wine is brewing and there’s lots of tasty jams to be canned. The wild elderberries are almost ripe and plan on harvesting those too to add to the urban homestead’s larder.
It’s a good life.
