It’s been an abnormally, unseasonable cool week. Feels like late October or even June. I wonder if this could be the coolest August on record? We don’t really know how the cooler weather will affect the last of the summer crops or if this just just temporary and September and October will be scorchers.
Farmer D said the other day in all his 30 plus gardening years this year has been the hardest year for growing a simple summer garden. This summer growing season has been “arduous,” he said, “I’m having to coax the plants resulting in either poor or mediocre results.”
Though it’s been a rough year, there are still some positive results and we are still eating good the in the neighborhood! This week we are harvesting lima beans and avocados – a yummy and buttery addition to our weekly meals.

Have you ever published your homemade granola recipe? I’d love to try to make some and yours always looks so delish. I did try to search for it on your blog but didn’t find it.
