The Great Warming film screening

An enthusiastic crowd of 109 people attended the premier, advanced screening of The Great Warming Sunday evening. Beforehand, folks enjoyed a wonderful potluck spread thanks to everyone who brought delicious food for the “100 Mile” Potluck.

A big thank you goes out to Messiah Lutheran and its members for their hospitality in opening up the wonderful church facility for this community event.   Also, thanks to all those who volunteered in the kitchen, with set up/clean up, and to Janice whose hard work made the event possible.   In addition, thanks to Wild Oats (for donating food and cloth bags), to the City of Pasadena who handed out compact fluorescent light bulbs and also to the organizations who had information tables at this event:Tree People,C.I.C.L.E,, andCoalition on the Environment and Jewish Life. And last but not least, thanks to Friends of the Earth, California Inter Faith Power and Light,Organic Consumer’s Association for sending us plenty of educational information to share.

To all who were interested in the newest Beta III version of our video brochure (which we showed before the film), it will be available for downloading and online viewing in a day or two. Stay tuned…..

An interesting side note regarding this event was that we actually had a total of 154 people RSVP. However, there were 57 no-shows and 12 walk-ons.  We usually expect 10% to 20% no-shows because we take into account life’s last minute change in plans and/or emergencies, but this time it was more than 35%. It was very disappointing in the sense that many reserved, but did not show up. Maybe it is an LA thing?
