There is no trouble so great or grave that cannot be much diminished by a nice cup of tea. -Bernard-Paul Heroux

Our home(stead) not only sustains our family but also nourishes  the community:

Last night we went to Urban Homestead in Pasadena for English Tea.  The best thing about it was the place, the people and the incredible salad.  It was full of myriad greens including mustard tops, minors lettuce, etc.  Beautiful, fresh and delicious.   – Skip

I had the pleasure, with some of my family, to attend the English Tea/dinner at your home […]

Again, thank you, thank you, thank you(!) – for the tea/dinner, but more importantly for what you do every day, for the example you set, and for providing a model of what CAN be done.  I was honored to be your guest and felt as if I should be serving you. – GW

The homestead has become quite the hangout and, with the Spring just around the corner,  Sis and I have taken this opportunity to transform our office (just off the living room) into an old fashion sitting parlor so that we can accommodate more folks during the week… and private tea parties.

“It’s not the tea … that makes teatime special, it’s the spirit of the tea party. It’s what happens when women or men or children make a place in their life for the rituals of sharing. It’s what happens when we bother with the little extras that feed the soul and nurture the senses and make space for unhurried conversation. And when that happens, it doesn’t really matter what fills the cups or holds the liquid. It really isn’t the tea. It’s the spirit of the tea party.”

Would you like for us to host a private tea party for your friends or family?

Escape the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy a simpler time here at the homestead.  Tea is served either indoors in our cozy 1917 craftsman style home or in our outdoor patio garden.

We serve a traditional English style Full Afternoon Tea featuring the finest ingredients. Menu includes:  Homegrown salad greens, delicate melt- in- your- mouth selection of finger sandwiches (egg salad and cress, tomato and cheese,  apple arugula or cucumber chive) , freshly baked scones served with cream and our own home preserves and, for dessert, our original and now famous strawberry shortbread bar.

Contact our head event planner, Jordanne (jordanne@urbanhomestead.org), for private party or shower details.

    Absolutely gorgeous!

  2. Sharon says:

Oh, if only I didn’t live all the way in South Texas…there’s nothing even remotely resembling that here…

  3. Lori says:

I would LOVE to have a Tea Party there…too bad I live in the Deep South so far away. I once lived in a town that had a little place called ‘The Tea Garden’. Looked so much like what you have done with your office. It was an old house with a few rooms with tables and 1 room where they sold tea sets & packages of tea. It was beautiful just like your place. May God Bless Your Family and all of your Tea Parties 🙂

Hi Anais & Jordanne ~ I’ve been drooling over the ambience of your tea party photos for months now. I seem to recall that you gals once worked at a tea room in Pasadena. Was it The Rose Cottage by any chance? I happened to be at a conference out this neck of the woods where the owner was a guest speaker. Some of the photos she used have the same kind of ambience. Just curious .. it was way before I was familiar with your lovely homestead.
