PRESERVATION DAYS Con’t

Another canning day yesterday.  Yep three days in a row – we’re on a roll!  When the bounty calls you have to be there to answer – no ands, ifs or buts.

Yesterday’s preservation efforts were canning up some tomato sauce, marinated peppers and the rest of the ‘crop swap’ plums (the plums are absolutely delicious L – thanks!)

The goal this year is to fill the entire kitchen cupboards with homepreserved jars (and wine!)  – getting there!

    Hi Anais,

Would you please share your marinated pepper recipe? I remember you had posted about peppers in olive oil. Do you put them up like that?

    Thanks so much!!

    Hi, Anais,
In the tomato picture, which variety of tomato is the one with the green stripes? Is it an heirloom tomato? Have you ever sun-dried tomatoes?

Will you be saving any of your vegetable or flower seeds for next year?

Your pictures are so beautiful!! And, it does my heart good to know so many people are interested in canning and preserving food again. It is such satisfying work!

Thanks for sharing your lives with all of us. You are a true pioneer woman!

    Regards,
    Oohoo

The lovely black stripe tomato is a variety called BLACK ZEBRA.

Yes, we save a few seeds every year. Thanks for your positive feedback. Glad you enjoy the photos as much as we love taking them.

Still aspiring to be a true pioneer woman,
    Anais 😉

I think there’s a link somewhere in the archives…. I’ll have to go look.

Oh, and that reminds me, we have to so something about making LHITC easier to search past posts. It’s on our TO DO LIST….

    Hi Anais,

I did a search for marinated peppers and couldn’t find a recipe though hits mentioning them came up. If you could put me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks for answering!

Ah, canning, it’s something I was NEVER interested in growing up as a child, but I loved the fruits of my mother’s labor. Now both my brother and I want to learn. Unfortunately neither of us has much of a bumper crop this year. Maybe I’ll help with the jam this fall.

    Hello Val

Sorry. We plan improving and optimizing the journal archive search … soon I hope.

In the meantime, I did a Google search and found the recipe at http://www.kitchenlink.com/mf/20/7755

    Happy canning!
