Film Details

This event is a collaboration with POV (Point of View), PBS’ award-winning nonfiction film series.

How much do we know about the food we buy at our local supermarkets and serve to our families? Though our food appears the same as ever — a tomato still looks like a tomato — it has been radically transformed. In the Academy Award®-nominated blockbuster Food, Inc., producer-director Robert Kenner and investigative authors Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation) and Michael Pollan (The Omnivore’s Dilemma) lift the veil on the U.S. food industry, revealing surprising and eye-opening facts about what we eat, how it’s produced, who we have become as a nation and where we may go from here.

(Caution: There are some images of animal cruelty that may disturb viewers. Parental discretion advised.)

Vegetarian Potluck

Bring something (preferably vegetarian) to contribute to the potluck – bring enough food for yourself/family and a bit to share. The primary focus of the ‘Locavore’ potluck is to promote eating whole foods, in their nature-made state, focusing on fresh food from local sources (or as local as possible)

Don’t forget to stick around afterwards for a pop quiz where PRIZES will be awarded.

Freedom Garden Swap ‘n Meet

Join local homegrown revolutionaries – swap crops, seeds, expertise and more.

Growing for 21st century food security, FreedomGardens.org is a free interactive, online social community of gardening enthusiasts who are fed up with foreign oil, frequent food miles and high food prices.

    Dear film producers,

I met your crew in Merrit Island Florida at the Loplolly compound while I aided family and friends cook crab and such for one of your featured films. There was a qeust 83 years old, at the Fresh Food and Family dinner and I would like to let her know when this show will air. She is under treatment and this would be a good distraction.

    Sincerely,

Deborah Mohrmann ( I signed your papers)
