Counting. One two three four five….
Then weighing
Justin the seed addict loves seeds, Jordanne pleads “I can’t possible count any more of those itty bitty seeds” and me, well, don’t disturb I am counting 150, 151, 152…… drats, where was I…. 1, 2, 3, 4
Our entire dining room has turned into a seed storage and packing operation. Last week we spent a few days counting seeds. Ever try counting 350 celery seeds, 400 lettuce seeds? You start getting a little cross eyed and funny in the head after looking at all those tiny seeds. Good thing is we only had to do this once to get the weight set and from now on will pack by weight.
So far we’ve had over 70 requests for our “Freedom Seeds” list and only had a handful of orders.
If you haven’t already asked or order please do so and get these huge bags of bulk seeds out of our living room and into your garden.
I await the mail these days with anticipation…..

January 28, 2009 at 10:52 amI’ve been doing this myself on a small scale, only the seeds I save and have been trading with other gardeners.

January 28, 2009 at 5:28 pmI keep thinking I wish I had time to volunteer to come help you guys count seeds – it’s my kind of OCD! Sadly, with the grandparents out of town visiting their other kid, the child care gets tricky, and my little Agent of Entropy is just NOT conducive…

January 28, 2009 at 9:58 pmJust got in my issue of Mother Earth News and guess who I saw in there?!
Good article, but being that I follow your site pretty closely there wasn’t much new there, however it’s a great testimonial.
By the way, I know a year around growing cycle is pretty cool and all, but ‘Why California?’ Earthquakes, and wildfires and such. Surely you can duplicate your efforts in a different locale? Just curious, I’m sure you get that question all the time.

February 1, 2009 at 5:06 amCool; would love to have this: gonegreen AT snarfbargle DOT com . . .
Two ideas: You can set up an free email and have an autoresponse that is your list . . . you still get the email to see who has requested it but you don’t have to mail it out! The autoresponse can contain links to an ORDER email too . . .
