NOW THERE ARE TWO

The extremely hot temperatures brought out quite a few calls for bee swarms last week.   With help from another urban beekeeping friend, was able to grab another just in time for my new queen’s arrival in the mail.    Was I lucky or what?   She’s now being introduced to her new court, hopefully all goes well in beedom.

I am expecting a package of bees next week. I sure hope they are gentle bees. Our swarm hive from last year died, because it started out so small to begin with. But you don’t have problems in CA with hives freezing in winter. You should have great luck with your swarms.

@Ginger: Sure hoping so. It’s really tough for bees these days, so many unknowns that are leading to empty hives. Just doing our best to ensure their survival. Good luck with yours!

I’m jealous! I just put foundation in my first frames and wiped on some bee lure, I’m hoping the warm weather due in next week will encourage some swarms to stop by.

@Evan: We just hope these bees stick around. It’s tough for bees these days. Good luck with yours.

Justin, may your hives live long and prosper. It was such an odd thing that your hive died for no reason last year.

    Have a great bee day.
