Two words that are right up our alley, especially during these penny pinching times.
The nearby Levitt Pavilion in Pasadena has a free summer concert series. Each summer they bring in a wide range of musical guests. On the last week of the season, sis, a couple of friends and I got to see The Secret Sisters for FREE just a few blocks from the homestead. If you aren’t familiar with The Secret Sisters they are a set of Alabama sisters (duh) who have sky rocketed to stardom. The “secret” to their success, IMO, is their magical harmonizing and style which harkens back to “simpler” times.
These gals are known for their vintage get up. In solidarity, we dusted off our vintage dresses and pumps and enjoyed a wonderful summer’s night outdoors in the park with good food, friends and amazing music. What a treat! If you haven’t been to one of their concerts then you are missing out on a magical experience.
Tis one of the advantages of homesteading in the city – there are so many happenings one can participate in without having to travel very far!
On our homegrown music front: Sis & I can do a pretty good version of their song “Tennessee Me.” Chords are simple so we are working on the harmonizing. Our cats often watch us and haven’t left our room in fear so I guess there’s hope for us yet.
Thanks for all the positive and encouraging comments regarding my “Practice Makes Perfect” post. Just wanted to clarify, one thing about me practicing guitar. The “throwing” reference was just a figure of speech describing the frustration. I would never, NEVER hurt my guitar! OK, so now we are clear *grin*
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend! But before we sign off for the week, also want to thank ya’ll for all your virtual “hugs.” They are greatly appreciated and feel very blessed to have your support.
Oh, and don’t forget! Now that our website is up (for now) you can catch up where you left off by clicking on “ARCHIVES” HAPPY READING!
