One day

A box arrived in the mail

With a

Handwritten letter and

A basket filled with

Items like a

Handmade basket useful for harvesting

Handmade knife

Useful for cutting

A wood bowl for those misplaced car keys.

Some wild harvested rice & maple syrup

That we made into some delicious meals and dessert!

Turns out this person had seen HOMEGROWN the Film by Robert McFalls and was so inspired by our urban family farm that he needed to share with us how much the film meant to him with personal gifts (that were harvested and crafted from all LOCAL materials in his area) for everyone in the family.

Our family was truly touched to receive such thoughtful and handmade/harvested gifts.  Gifts that will be enjoyed and treasured.  Thank you so very, very much.

PS Really liked the photo of you and your chicken – very cute!

Now, I have to go write an actual letter…

So look for an envelope in the mail!

  1. Chiot's Run says:

This is exactly why we celebrate a “homemade” Christmas with my family. It’s always so fun & exciting to see what everyone made from scratch for presents.

  2. Megan says:

That is verry impressive! I love homegrown/hand made items. They carry much more meaning and I am amazed at what people can create.

PS. Would you be willing to share your recipe for the cupcakes?
