J & THE BEANSTALK

In the jungle, the mighty jungle Farmer D & J pick at night (pretty soon we are going to need those machetes!)

Pole bean vines are just loaded!

Filling the wire basket

Those are some mighty long pole beans – gorgeous!  Viva la homegrown revolution.

Our poling beans are producing in heaps as well. We actually have both poling and bushing varieties and I am noticing for the first time this year that the poling kind far out-produce the bushing kind. I wonder if this is true for all varieties and if so, why?

The beans look great. I have baby beans on my bush beans, but the pole beans have not even flowered yet. I like the flavor of the pole beans better. Everyone around here says they are to big of a pain to string. I grow some of both, but prefer the taste of pole beans.

great pole beans…yes, what variety are those? My pole beans this year are not doing well. I don’t know if it’s the weather, location, or if planted too close to some sunflowers…but they are the pits this summer. But my bush beans are great. I picked a few tiny ones to taste, and they’re incredible.
