Ray, Jordanne work on air chamber
Sunday, Ray came by and we all worked over 6 hours on the oven. It was time to join the top and bottom together with cob, in addition to making  “bulges” for the petals (which will be used for food preparation).  Ray also started molding the air chamber that will wrap around the top of the lady bug to shunt the smoke away from the cooking chamber.  He also placed a black marble shelf in the front of the oven that will be used to keep things warm or use it as a stovetop.  The oven, Ray explained, will have many uses from cooking bread, pizzas to baking potatoes, grilling meats, heating water and even pancakes!

“Interdependence is and ought to be as much the ideal of man as self-sufficiency….” ~ Gandhi ~

Tonight we are having a few friends over for an “Interdependence Day” gathering as we celebrate interdependence with each other and with our environment. Interdependence and fellowship are the necessary essentials that make it possible for us to sustain life. Without interrelation with society we cannot realize our oneness with the universe.  For a special treat we’ll be making some homemade strawberry ice cream (using fresh strawberries from the garden).

The guys are working on the deck, hoping to get the stairs in by this evening.

Thank you for reminding about “interdependence…” As I sometimes forget…

Thanks Wildside for your comment. I agree, there’s so much emphasis on independence, we forgot that we all are dependent on each other and all natural elements to live.

Actor Will Smith pointed this out at the LIVE 8 stating a “declaration of interdependence”
