After a restful Saturday, towards late afternoon we took the goats on their weekly walk in the Lower Arroyo Seco (just 5 minutes down the road) The Arroyo Seco runs from the San Gabriel mountains all the way to LA a swath of land that remains wild (sorta) and we are so blessed to have it so close by — practically in our own backyard!
This time of year is so beautiful with the wild mustards, wildflowers and wild grasses all growing. In a few months time everything will be brown and crunchy. The Arroyo Seco is full of wild edibles too. I’ve spotted golden currents, elderberry, wild plums, cactus and much more edibles which I’ve taken note of for future wild forging expeditions.
