Sneezing, crying - both? Give this woman a hanky!

Sneezing takes a lot of energy. In fact, I sneezed so much these past few days, I felt like blew my brains out and my “writing skills” along with it.   I found it hard to concentrate on writing when I had a sneezing fit.

I don’t know what set off this onset of stuffy head, sneezing and nose runs. Sounds like a case of allergies?  To what?  I haven’t a clue.  June gloom?  The new bunny?  Hmmm, but we’ve had her for a few months now.  Cross that off – don’t worry, Bunsie, we still wuvs you.    Could be I’ve been too busy (working sometimes 15 hours day) to eat properly these days that my immune system has taken a hit.   This week it was so bad, Jordanne threatened that if I didn’t stop sneezing  she would call the CDC or something.    Geez! Guess I needed to do something!  She wasn’t the only one sick of my sneezanigans.  I was doggone tired of friends asking me on the phone “are you sick” and explaining that I wasn’t.   I was tired of sneezing my head off and having my nose run like Niagra Falls.   I was tired of being tired.

I needed a boost of something – strong!  Cod liver oil did the trick, fermented cod liver oil to be more precise.  A day after taking some CO, I’ve not sneezed one bit (yeah!) and I don’t have to carry a hanky in my apron pocket.    I have to warn you if you have trouble taking regular cod liver oil then fermented cod liver oil is, well, MUCH stronger and can really make you go “Gah!” with its taste.  But I spread a bit on bread and slathered a dollop of our honey on top (honey is another immune booster) and am able to take it rather well.

If you are local and looking for honey, look no further than our Front Porch Farm Stand (open Sun – Fri  10 am – 8 pm)

We also strongly believe in the health boosting power of fermentation so be sure to check out other fermented products at our resources page.

Would love to try the fermented cod liver oil! I have two reasons for wanting to try it. I’m also suffering from allergies this year, first time in a long time and the sneezing is making me and my family crazy. We take fish oil and we sell it in my hubby’s clinic. If the fermented cod liver oil is better and also helps with allergies, I would love to offer it for sale in our clinic. We currently sell a rather popular commercial fish oil but would love to support another small business.

  39. Nebraska Dave says:

Anais, fermented cod liver oil? Yuck, I can imagine how it tastes. I tell my grandson that the medicine won’t really work unless it tastes bad. It seems to work for him. He has never been one to bulk at bad tasting medicine.

How, exactly, does one ferment cod liver oil? I’ve never tried to ferment anything before but you say that fermenting is quite healthy. Hmmm, maybe I should explore fermenting. At least it doesn’t heat up the kitchen, does it? One of the reasons I’ve shied away from canning was the heat generated to accomplish it. Most of the canning is in the hot months and it puts an extra burden on the aging airconditioner.

Have a great allergy free day.

  40. Nicole says:

The Blue Ice Royal Butter Oil/Fermented Cod Liver Oil Blend and the Coconut Ghee are the products that I’d most like to try. I eat a number of fermented foods, and I make some of my own, but the fermented cod liver oil is something I have yet to try. Great site!

I have been fascinated about fermented cod liver oil!

I’m going to say the Blue Breeze Coconut Oil as coconut oil is great for conditioning hair and I’m nowhere near my goal of ankle-length so anything that will make it healthier and stronger is a blessing. =)

  43. Karen says:

What a great giveaway! I would love to try the Blue Ice products. There is one for moisturizing hands and another for helping ease sore joints. My hands are chapped and dry. My knees and ankles are constantly hurting from gardening and working with the animals. My body would certainly thank you!!!

  44. elaine nieves says:

It would be very nice to have the emusion of cod liver oil. If it’s tested by kids and they can handle the taste then that is the one for me.

  45. Jennifer Albanese says:

I have recently been reading about fermented cod liver oil and wanted to try it. I would probably try the capsules.

  46. Stacey says:

This is a great giveaway. My family and I tried the Green Pastures Cod liver oil- orange flavor but due to the costs, I have gone to a much less expensive version. I have to say though, the two products seem nothing alike and I would only guess that the effects and potency of the less expensive version is not alike either. I would love to be able to afford their cod liver oil or even better the butter/cod liver oil blend.

  47. Rhonda Rogalski says:

I would really love to try the high vitamin butter & FCO combo in capsules. I have always wanted to try an FCO but I am one of those people that have a hard time with the flavor – gack! – and the capsules would eliminate that problem. The health benefits would finally be mine – yippee!!!!

Thanks so much for the opportunity to win 😀

  51. Chris V says:

Hi Anais ~~ So glad to hear you are feeling better. Thank you so much for posting your list of resources. Hubby and I had a similar situation to yours happened to us this past winter with the sneezing and “allergy-type” symptoms (very runny nose and LOTS of congestion) once we turned our oil-heat on. We were like “what in the world is going on” … cold? flu? .. but none of the other side effects. Hmmm. .. as we have not had so much as a cold or headache in the 3 years prior. This thing was “fierce”. We did start consuming more raw fermented foods in our diet which I believe (for us .. no medical advice, just sharing our personal experience) was a factor in overcoming whatever it was trying to grab hold of us.

Glad to hear the “fermented” cod liver oil helped you recover! Stay well and Be Happy!

  52. Chris V says:

PS … Ordered a jar of your OG raw, unfiltered honey this past winter as part of our Xmas gift to hubby and me. It is “The Bomb”!!! Just fantastic!!!! Yes we have access to other local honey, but knowing all of the biodiversity you have going on at your homestead and all of the “happy pollinating” … good karma .. honoring Mother Nature, etc. we just had to try it. It is fabulous! The color and the taste is like nothing seen around these parts in MA despite other beekeepers wonderful efforts.

I treat it like “liquid gold” enjoying it for the special occasional treat. Once you opened your farmstand at the homestead, I just had to order 2 more jars so I wouldn’t be without it in my pantry.

God Bless You All for what you do and your generosity!!

  53. Chelsea says:

LOVELY GIVEAWAY! I’ve been wanting to try the cod liver/butter blend for almost a year…but with a college student budget I haven’t been able to purchase it. I have heard so many great aspects about their company, and am thrilled that they source all their products with sustainability in mind. I’ve discovered that I have some nutritional deficiencies, and the cod liver/butter blend or the cod liver oil would help in rejuvenating and supporting my immune system. Thank you!

  54. Lindsay Lewis says:

I almost didn’t even need to visit their page, as I’ve looked at it quite a few times! I am almost done with my first bottle of FCLO/BO, and neeeeed to get more. So that’s probably what I would buy, but I am also very curious about the Coconut Ghee! I’ve honestly never heard of it, but it sounds delicious!

  55. Suzanne says:

Hey there! So glad to see this giveaway! I just started using their Fermented Cod Liver oil, but really want to try to Butter Oil!!

  58. Margie says:

Hi! Thank you for posting about how CLO has boosted your immunity. This is exactly the same reason I am looking into trying it–and I didn’t realize the butter oil adds such benefits. I would love to win this giveaway as the cost has kept me from trying it out (small budget!). I work during the school year and spend most of the 9+ months with a cold, so am trying to boost immunity this summer to help with next year. Thank you very much!!

I want to try cod liver oil!

I’d love to try the fermented cod liver oil or high vitamin butter oil for my son. He has suffered from a horrible skin condition since birth and nothing helps- from docs or diet change or home remedies.

  63. Jennifer says:

I would so appreciate a coupon to be able to purchase their FCLO/HVBO in Cinnamon flavour. I have low vitamin D and other supplementation hasn’t helped me. I also suffer from chronic dry skin and wonder if a daily dose of FCLO would improve that. Thank you SO much for the opportunity to win! Crossing my fingers! : )

  64. Kerri says:

Found your site through Food Renegade and am excited about your Giveaway. I’ve been considering the fermented cod liver oil/butter oil for a while after hearing several enthusiasts speak of it. I am enjoying exploring your site and will add it to my growing list of sites devoted to ancestral and sustainable living.

  65. Becca says:

I am just finishing my first bottle of the liquid FCO. I tried the FCO/BO blend in cinnamon tingle and I just can’t get it down without gagging and then having the aftertaste if CLO and cinnamon. Yuck. But now I have the orange liquid and I take it with some OJ like a shot. The OJ cuts the oiliness and I have not after taste. Success! I also take the BO pills. But I need more of both and would love to win!

  66. Tiffany says:

we take the cod liver oil/ butter oil blend in cinnamon tingle. Next time I place an order I might get experimental – but since I hate taking this stuff and only do so b/c I know it is good for me I might not! My kids take their cod liver oil easier than I do =)

  67. Ouida Lampert says:

I have wanted to try the Royal Butter Oil/Fermented Cod Liver Oil Blend in Cinnamon Tingle flavor, primarily because of SO many recommendations from members of the Real Food and Paleo movements. Frankly, the price is what has kept me from doing so. I know – what price health?

    Thank you for the opportunity.

  68. Stephanie says:

I would love for my family of 3 to all take the FCLO/ butter oil blend!

  69. Kelly McGreevy says:

We love Green Pastures products! We are currently giving our daughter the butter oil/cod liver oil blend to help with her cavities. We pretty much stick to the Weston Price diet but we were eating a lot of sprouted whole grains witch wreak havoc on the teeth. I was shocked to learn that she had FOUR cavities. Her dentist put on the guilt trip (I decline Xrays and Fluoride) and gave us a $4000.00 estimate that included nickel spacers, extractions and mini-root canals! We have made some changes in our diet and added the CLO/Butter oil blend. 3 weeks in and she is doing great! Thank you!

  70. Kelly McGreevy says:

    *which* oops!

  71. Amanda says:

I would love to try the Blue Ice Fermented Cod Liver Oil in non-flavored.

How timely as I’m fighting a head cold right this moment. Thanks for the chance to win. 🙂

  72. Kira says:

I love Green Pasture products! I’m 3/4 through my first bottle of fermented cod liver/butter oil, and I would *love* to win another bottle!

I’ve been giving it to my kids as well, in the chocolate cream flavor, and while they were initially a little hesitant they have actually been bringing me the bottle and reminding me that they need to take it. Great stuff!

  73. Leesa says:

Would love to try the Butter/ Cod blend to see if it would help with my low vitamin D problem.

  74. Emma says:

I really want to try BLUE ICE™ Royal Butter Oil/Fermented Cod Liver Oil Blend in Cinnamon Tingle flavor!!

I would love to try their Beauty Balm. Great give-away – thank you.

  79. Michelle Anderson says:

I’ve been reading Cure Tooth Decay and am amazed at the data on remineralizing teeth. I’m interested in trying the FCLO with the High Vitamin Butter Oil to do all I can to help my teeth. Thanks for the opportunity to enter!

  80. Kelly says:

I would definitely stock up on my fermented cod liver oil/butter oil blend!!

  81. deb says:

Hi! I have heard so many great things about FCLO, but have been hesitant to try it because of the BIG price tag….i know…who can put a price on good health?..but still! I love cinnamon, so that is the clo that interests me the most. I am curious about the emulsified for my two kids…any experience with that? Also, how soon do you see “results” or is it more of a preventative? Always so many questions in moving towards a healthier lifestyle! Thanks for your help and fingers crossed I win the giveaway 🙂 Blessings to you and yours!

  82. Dana Moore says:

I started taking fermented cod liver oil and butter oil in January – I got interested in it because I wanted to reverse my cavities. Then I started to research it more and realized our whole family NEEDED to be taking it. My kids even take it without complaining….but I’m out and desperately need to order. I am also interested in ghee as i have heard about it but have never used it.

I have been reading on the wap website about the benefits of butter oil, especially when combined with cod liver oil – apparently the two work in great synergy. I would love to try the Green Pastures blend of the two! Though I’m still intimidated by the concept of taking the liquid FCLO…

  86. Elizabeth says:

I have wanted to try the fermented cod liver oil for awhile, so hooray for opportunity! My hubby and I started taking cod liver oil in the gel capsule form. My son likes to try it if he sees us taking them, but always spits the capsule back out after it opens. Any suggestions on what would be most appealing to toddlers?

  90. Chelsey says:

I usually take the CLO/Butter oil capsules but have recently switched to the chocolate flavor because it seems more economical. I would love to try cinnamon though!

  91. iwona says:

I would love to try fermented cod liver oil in cinnamon flavor for my kids. I’m a mother of 3, living on one income, and simply cannot afford to buy it right now. Thank you.

I want to start taking the butter/cod liver blend. I have heard amazing things about it!

  97. Christine says:

I would like to try the plain Blue Ice Fermented Cod Liver Oil. I have had the cinnamon tingle flavor, but it is too strong for me. I would like to get plain and mix it with my own flavoring.

  98. Erin says:

I am a Nutritionist and am currently reading Weston A. Price’s Nutrition and Physical Degeneration. I want my children (well, my whole house really) to take fclo and the high quality butter oil. After reading WAP research I want that health for the people I love!

  102. Kylie says:

I’d like to try the butter and cod liver oil blend. I’ve had the plain FCLO in the past (on super mega sale) and now I’m out and the grad assistant budget doesn’t allow much room for buying more, so winning would be awesome!

  103. Sarah Davis says:

I was not aware that CO was good for allergies. That makes me doubly excited!! I am most interested in the CO, as I suffer horrible allergies.
What got me most excited, though, was the food allergy Statement they had posted. My 2nd son is allergic to several of the major food triggers. It’s the simple things!

  104. Kristin says:

Hello! I was so glad to find green pastures fermented CO. I have been healing from lead and mercury toxicity for the past 3 years and have a ways to go still. FCO has helped to support my immune system and stay strong while I move all of the metal out of my system. Along with lead toxicity comes Vit D deficiency and FCO is packed with A & D. …so I have been grateful to have it as an option! It can be an investment, but its worth it! Thanks for the opportunity to win one!!

  106. Laura S. says:

I tried their fermented cod liver oil and butter oil blend a couple of months back as a last desperate attempt to get rid of the adult acne that I have been battling for the past five years before going back to the doctor again. It WORKED. I couldn’t believe it – after all of the things I’ve tried (over the counter, prescription, organic, natural, diet changes, etc.), it has been the only thing that has worked for me. As someone who tries to ingest only organic/whole foods and can barely look at chemical-filled beauty products without risking a rash, I am so grateful for this company and their products. I would love to win a coupon so that I can try out the “kid tested” fermented cod liver oil on my kids!

  107. Hilda Gore says:

I love the CLO and the lotions made with CLO. My family is happier and healthier thanks to these products!

  111. Nicole says:

Fermented CLO is such a personal thing…after some experimentation I have found a flavor (chocolate cream) that my 2-year-old will take (asks for, actually) off the spoon with no problems. I am, however, still looking for the best one for me. I’m currently choking down the ginger since I know it’s good for me, but I would love to win a free one so I can experiment a bit more and find one that’s a good fit for me!

  112. Sarah says:

Thanks for the link to a great site. I would be interested in the cod liver oil – fermented or not and the Xfactor butter.

I’m most interested in the cod liver oil.

  114. Loretta says:

Their butter oil/cod liver oil blend sounds wonderful! I’ve been hearing such awesome things about their products and would love to give them a try!

  115. Allie H says:

I’d love to try the different flavors of FCLO. I’ve only tried the capsules, but I know the liquid is much easier on the budget. The ginger and cinnamon are the ones that interest me the most. My family has gotten out of the CLO habit–I need to get us back on, since we are all allergy sufferers, too.

  116. veronica santacruz says:

I would love to try the high vitamin butter oil. We take the fermented cod liver oil already, but the butter oil its more expensive and haven’t had a chance to buy it.

  117. Erin says:

Most interested – hands down – in the high vitamin butter / cod liver oil blend – chocolate!! I haven’t tried the blend, and am always tucking these things into kefir shakes, smoothies, etc. to get my 3 year old to eat them 🙂 She just discovered chocolate (thanks Grandma), but this could be a chocolate experience I could get behind 🙂 That’s a wonderful why! *

  118. Alena M says:

Of course I’m interested in the fermented CLO – heard so many things about it… the coconut ghee sounds quite interesting too…

  119. Jules Rawick says:

Hi. We have been taking fish oil for a little bit now but my wife found about Fermented Cod Liver Oil from a friend. The Green Pasture Blue Ice Royal Blend just came yesterday. We are taking it to help our teeth and to help our body get more of the nutrients and vitamins out of it, We are getting more and more into using fermented foods. We make Viili and have been making Kombucha Tea for month now. We also use Soaked Wheat. I seem to be getting healthier but getting like this. So a fermented fish oil seems to fit.
    thanks jules rawick

  120. almamater says:

We already take the FCLO/Butter Oil Royal blend, but, boy, would I like to try the Beauty Balm! I turned 40 this year and, with six children, I would like to do whatever I can (naturally) to hang on to my young-ish looking skin for a few more years. It looks like the perfect blend of ingredients. Thank you for offering this opportunity.

  121. Anna says:

I just started using CLO for arthritis. I didn’t know it was good for allergies too. I haven’t tried fermented before and would love to try high vitamin butter / cod liver oil blend and the Coconut Ghee. Thanks for the website link.

  122. Amanda says:

We’d love to try the FCLO/BO blend, but haven’t spent the money to try it. It would be great to be able to try it out for free!

  123. Sandra Brougher says:

I would be very interested in trying their skate liver oil and see how it compares to cod liver oil or even plain old fish oil.

I also like their FCLO/butter oil but would like to try FCLO without the butter oil and see how I respond.

I would love to see how cooking with butter oil works or if it is even possible.

Of course anything coconutty is right up my alley.

  124. Kari says:

I have been wanting to try the cod liver oil and butter oil. Several months back I read that it helped with tooth decay (as you mentioned above) and ever since then I have been wanting to try it. I have a dentist that has wanted to drill in my teeth and I am NOT interested in that…I would really love to see if this would heal the damage so I can avoid the drilling and prevent further damage.

  125. Jen says:

I swear by Green Pastures fermented CLO and sing its praises to anyone who will listen! I credit it with stabalizing my mood (no more depression and mood swings since I started taking a spoonfull a day a year ago). I continued to take it throughout my pregnancy and now give 1/2 tsp (unflavored) to my bright and vivacious 4 month old. Although it’s a “must have” in my house, it’s not cheap! So I’d love this opportunity to replinish my dwindling stock of Cinnamon Tingle.

  126. Brandon says:

I’d like to get some emulsified cod liver oil for my girlfriend. She can’t stomach the unflavored stuff, the pills are too big for her to swallow… Maybe the peppermint will win her over! Thank you.

  127. Heather says:

I have been taking FCLO for a while now and LOVE the health benefits. I can ALWAYS use more and since it is so expensive, I would love to win this contest to purchase more! I usually get the FCLO/BO blend so than I can get a good balance of Vitamin A/D in one shot. 🙂

  128. Carol says:

We are currently trying to heal some pretty bad cavities in our daughter’s mouth as well as demineralization at the gum line of some of her permanent teeth. In one tooth, she has a big hole. 🙁 She is motivated to do whatever we ask since she had a bad experience in the dentist’s chair and wants desperately to avoid that.
We believe that being on a gluten free diet and consuming lots of phytic acid rich foods led to the problems in both her and her brother’s mouths. We have since changed our diet to a real/whole, properly/traditionally prepared foods sort of diet.
The green pasture products are a staple in what we hope to be a healing process as well as a lifelong wellness regimen. Our current bottle is nearly empty and a free one would really help!!
We currently use the combo (fermented cod liver oil/highvitamin butter oil) capsules, but we would like to try the cinnamon tingle gel as it is more cost effective and we feel we need to step up the dose for our ailing teeth.
    Thanks for the opportunity!

  129. Nicole B says:

  134. Candice says:

I’d love to try the high vitamin butter oil. Actually, I think my husband should try it since he has problems with cavities. He’s been brave enough to take FCLO straight but I’d like to try some as well.

  152. Jill says:

Fermented cod liver oil has been on my ‘to try’ list for so long, but is so cost prohibitive. I’d actually like to try the butter oil/cod liver oil blend, too. I need to get my little ones on cod liver oil to see if it boosts their immune systems. Too many colds last winter! How young is too young to start with the cod liver oil? I’m also curious about the beauty balms. Maybe that’d be a way to get some of the beneficial ingredients into the baby if he’s too little (8 mos) to consume.

  153. amy says:

I am interested in the FCLO & High Butter Vitamin oil in any format, but the combination sounds nice with the cinnamon or chocolate flavor. I am working on my family’s D levels since we are all low–surprise, surprise, and have been adding in fermented products since I believe they are very beneficial and necessary for optimal health. Omega-3’s are also very important, especially for my daughter right now who struggled this last year in school with low energy level & unrefreshed sleep. So much rather tackle this with good nutrition if I can. I also believe these are very good product for the teeth which is very important right now for our family too. I was a vegan for 3 years and have recently begun incorporating raw dairy products, fish, and pastured animal products into my diet and cut out refined/processed carbohydrates, and it’s been absolutely incredible. Since, I’ve been fermenting my own sauerkraut and kombucha and enjoy them mostly daily. I’d love to add FCLO into my diet as well! I’ve tried Carlsen’s brand cod liver oil, which was all that my local health food store had at the time, and I like it–it has definitely helped alleviate my symptoms somewhat–but I have been waiting to purchase FCLO because I’m on a tight recent graduates budget!
