I am not going to be able to visit the front porch farm stand. My Dad’s surgery at the VA hospital has been canceled because the bladder that supposedly had cancer now does not. I contribute the absence of cancer due to the many folks that were praying. You have inspired me to start thinking about the extra produce from my garden this year and just having a small neighborhood give away stand on my front patio. It’s a small start but hey I am into small steps toward self neighborhood sustainability.

Have a great front porch farm stand.

  2. Allison says:

Awesome! How do we get there?

  3. Karen Joyce says:

I would love to be able to do this at my home! I tried a yard sale last summer with no customers 🙁
How did you get started? Any tips/ pointers you can give?

  4. Susan Koble says:

Did you have to jump through any bureaucratic red tape hoops to operate your front porch farm stand?

    • Anais says:

@Susan Koble: In Pasadena, we are allowed to operate from our home as a home business provided we get a business license and a home occupation permit and we have both. Additionally, we set appointments for our customers for picking up their orders to comply with the City’s ordinance for pedestrian and automobile traffic in a residential area. See Pasadena’s Code Compliance link

  5. Tracy Mallie says:

Hi – I’ve been looking at this site for a while now and wanted to finally stop by the Front Porch Stand. At the top you mention the hours to stop-by but in discussion of any “red tape” in mentions appointments. Are appts. necessary? I’m in Pasadena and have my own little raised bed but your place is gorgeous and I’ve really wanted to stop.

    • Anais says:

@Tracy Mallie: You are welcome to drop by the “Front Porch Farm Stand” that is open to the public Sundays to Fridays (hours are 10 am – 6 pm; CLOSED on Saturdays). 6. Melanie says:

you stand is loverly I’m a little jealous though as I think your porch is bigger than my whole yard out front, but I am in the UK so I should count my blessings as may houses here have no yard at all.

    • Anais says:

@Melanie: “loverly” how cute is that! 🙂 I think “My Fair Lady” (one of my favorite movies btw) Good luck and way to grow!
