Dear Homegrown folks,

I’m 55 years young, a pastor in Arizona. born in New York, went to Woodstock (the original one), happily married and have 5 delightful grandkids (and one on the way). I saw your YouTube “Homegrown Revolution” back in March of this year, and that last line – that if you want to change the world, it all starts with the changing one’s self first, well – it got to me. I decided right there that I’m going to do something about changing the world by doing something radical – changing myself; getting out of my “city-thinkin’-comfort-zone” and get my hands dirty – like people did throughout the ages in every culture.

I’ve done just about no gardening all my life – my wife and I did a few [self watering boxes] over the last 3 years but that’s about it. But I decided to get free and just “go for it.” I looked up how to build a raised garden box on YouTube…. I went to Home Depot, got the material to build 4 huge raised garden boxes (3 @ 4′ X 4′ and one 10′ X 4′ – with irrigation – drip system in each box), I ordered 4 1/2 tons of Organic soil, and, with my lovely wife, planted vegetables, herbs, flowers, trees and beautied my back yard. I don’t know what got into me – but whatever it was, it was very good! It truly does bring a sense of freedom…can’t explain it…it has to be experienced. And if I can do it, anyone can!

Thanks for your inspiration,

I hope you don’t mind but I was so inspired by your video that I put it on our blog along with a link to your site.

We are a family of nine from the UK, and this is our first year with us taking our first, tentative steps into becoming more self reliant. I have decided to try to keep a record of how much we manage to produce during our first year.

    Thank you for the inspiration!

All the very best to you and your family,
