CATCHING UP

Sorry for the lack of postings recently. Two weeks ago our family feel victim to a nasty flu bug that has been going around. Though we took considerable measures like herbs to combat the sickness the virus just had to take its natural course (though the symptoms were considerably less, thanks to mega doses of herbs, oranges and vitamins)

With the urban homestead short handed, there left little time for web work and postings.

Besides we had to get well and soon because we ALL were going to attend the Organic Farming Conference in Georgia this past weekend. Yep, not just Farmer D – the entire Dervaes clan was attending.

Actually, we just arrived home from our road trip (less than an hour ago – having been on the road Sunday afternoon) Not to mention we really didn’t have good access to a computer so hence another week with few postings.

So there’s loads of email, orders, inquiries and backlog of Freedom Seeds, Peddlers Wagon orders to get to – welcome home and now get to work! Thank you for patience as we try to wade through all this workload.

For those few of you who wrote about our whereabouts we really appreciate your concerned emails. Glad to know that if we fell off the face of the earth, there are those of you who care and think of us like family.

Having just got home, have to unpack and write all the stuff that has happened – there’s LOTS believe me.  Probably take me just a whole day of writing and uploading photo…. stay tuned!

Now that I have update ya’ll, please excuse me while go out and hug our goats, kitties and say howdy to our chickens/ducks….

Oh and change these clothes – after visiting all those rest stops – yuck.

Well, welcome back! I’ve been going through massive withdrawal and have had to soothe my need for a daily fix of Path to Freedom by reading old entries. Hope you had a wonderful trip.

I figured you must be really busy lately. Sorry to hear you had been sick.

I’ve been meaning to tell you that when I got my freedom seeds order and took the book and seeds out, my cat immediately climbed in the box behind the newspaper to play and take a nap. A couple weeks later and he still is loving the box and papers, so I have left it out for him to play in.
Meanwhile I am still waiting for it to be warm enough to plant the seeds. I am going to try planting some of the chard this week because I just don’t want to wait any longer.

We went through a bout of illness in February, also. I took a much longer blogging break than you. I am glad you are all home and healthy. Do you ever get to just kick back and relax?

I was getting worried about you too! Kept checking to see if you had a new post. I’m sorry you were all sick. I’ve wondered about that. I’ve never heard you mention catching a cold before, so I thought you guys were super-human! We all got that same nasty flu bug as well a few weeks ago. The cough is still lingering. We’ve been taking lots of herbal supplements too. I’m glad to see you are back. 🙂 Your last post has all your schedules and it looked very packed so I figured you were super busy as well. I’ll bring some fresh tangerines to the Gathing, it might help kick that flu bug to the moon.

I’m glad all is well, I just kind of thought you were busy in the garden, packing seed orders, and just too pooped at the end of the day to post.

  13. Susan says:

Oh, sorry,…btw. Did you guys take the biodiesel truck to go? If you did, did you take your own or did you have people on the way who refueled you? Just curious.

There really is no place like home, it there Anais! To be away whilst you’re crook (sorry, aussie slang for sick!) is not much fun.
Glad you’re safe at home. By the way, how do you survive with the food at truckie stops on the way?? Did you take a big hamper from home to keep you sustained?
    Blessings
    Anita.
