Our little Amy peacefully passed away on last Tuesday evening.
Thank you all for your kind words, support during her injury rehabilitation and this latest egg laying issue. What she went thru was enough to stress a normal human out – let alone a wee little animal. So on Tuesday after spending an day with her friends and eating worms (her favorite) she started showing signs of being tired and then in just a few short hours her body peacefully expired.
We buried her in the garden to join all the other critters that have passed thru our lives.
As caretakers of creation, surrounded by life, death is something that urban homesteaders deal with on a sometimes monthly or weekly basis. One never gets used to loosing an animal (especially one that we grew so attached to over this last year) but we do so appreciate they way that they die. And the way that Amy died was an answer to our prayers and we were blessed to have shared our life with her.
We’ll miss the little girlie – she taught us a lot about ourselves and how fragile life is. And life does go on.
Of course there’s more that I would like to say/write but am afraid I will cry all over the keyboard. So I think the less said the better….
