Someone laid a whopper – yowza!   Ended up being a double yolker too.  Made great (fluffy!) pancakes.

    Yowza is right! We have a hen that steadily lays double yolkers. I don’t know how she does it, but I wish we could clone her. LOL Our (four) boys get so excited every time they find a really large egg and can’t wait to crack it open.

    I would say a biggn’ my gals lay biggn’s but no double yolkers!

    I have to thank you guys for getting me into Khaki ducks! I love their eggs!!

    Ouch. Whenever one of my girls lays a big one I know ahead of time by the squawking. Such good gifts. And I share my bounty with them also. Right now it is a bounty of hand dug or pulled dandylion greens.
    Finially we may be getting out of the cold ( high of 45 and snow mixed with rain last week. Thats right I said high of 45. It has been a la nina spring with a vengence and I am so over it.) We have been running 10-15 degrees below normal all march and april. But now our temps are moving up and we’ve had some sun so we are keeping our fingers, and toes and whatever, crossed, in hopes that the temps continue upward.

    • Anais says:

      @c: Hope spring has sprung!

    Duck eggs are the greatest… They make fantastic brownies, cakes, pancakes, french toast, waffles , cookies and bread to name a few… I scramble mine for breakfast with a little cheese and milk… Hubby decieded this year that he wanted a few chickens so he got me 3 chicks in March.. They started laying last week…
