Heart of the Song is a special event conceived by Jimi, as he explains:
“Many songwriters, including myself, have written songs that are not performed often or at all, because most crowds want ENTERTAINMENT. So, in the interest of commercial acceptance, some of the deepest, most heartfelt work never sees the light of …stage, yet, the power & passion of these songs often shine brighter & share more of a songwriter’s heart & being than anything you’d see or hear in a large venue.”
Well known & loved on the singer-songwriter circuit, Kathy Sanders also helps host at the legendary Kulak’s Woodshed Monday night open mic.
With songs written from personal experience & inspired by circumstance, Kathy has found wide acceptance & a following that reaches across the country from Cafe Vivaldi in New York to the Republic of Pie in L.A..
As the current Director of SongNet, Jimi Yamagishi works hard to bring opportunities to as many songwriters as possible. He jokes that he’s probably forgotten more of his own songs than many will write in their entire career.
Many of his songs have been covered & performed by others, including his own bands, over the last 4 decades.
The Urban Homestead is a special educational environment that feels so good you don’t realize you are learning something! Sustainability, organic living & more on a tenth of an acre in the heart of Urban Pasadena, between a freeway & a shopping center, the Dervaes family blends old and new technology to demonstrate living simply can be living well. Their farm is the perfect setting for organic listening, & we are grateful to have an opportunity to share our own work here!
