Homegrown Diet – Fall Edition

Another round of late summer tomatoes are ripening (Cherokee purples and lemon boys)   Eggplant, peppers and squashes are still growing and we are going to hang onto them as long as we can before retiring them for cooler weather crops. During the next few months we’ll be tightening our belts a little.    The summer’s main cash crops have gone and we are in the middle season before the holiday eating season where business slightly picks up. Planting: fava beans, garlic, assortment of greens, turnips, radishes, snow peas, broccoli, potatoes and more

I live in SLC, Utah and this morning when I walked outside the air was very ‘thick’ with the smell of wildfire smoke and the skies were overcast. The smoke and ash from the CA fires has finally reached us! Hope firefighters, etc., get everything under control soon. Good Luck, California.
