HOMEMADE SOLAR OVEN
It’s summer and that means dusting off the solar ovens. No need to heat up the house hotter than it is for cooking simple foods.
HUNG OUT TO DRY
Well, since I have never had a dryer to use (except when visiting friends or traveling), I cannot comment on using a dryer from firsthand experience. All I know is that an electric clothes dryer is an energy hog.
HOMESTEAD FINANCES
You know that old saying “Self sufficient is as self sufficient does.” Ok, not really old but a new take on Gumpisms. How can we be “self sufficient” on only 1/10 of an acre (if an acre is $1.00 we are growing our groceries on 10 cents)?

UNUSUAL EDIBLES
Having so much flora here on the urban homestead one never really gets to figuring out all the ways one can go about using and preparing all the different parts of a plant- there’s the fruit, flowers, roots, shoots, leaves etc that are edible and even useful but overtime we’ve lost all that know how [...]
