EARTH CARE WEEK
Although we couldn’t attend all the events we were invited to (sorry, folks, perhaps next year!) due to conflict of schedules with Holy Week, we still did have a jam packed week!!!
RESKILLING: HOMEGROWN MUSIC
It’s been awhile since I picked up a guitar. This new year was just about as good a time as any to scratch off some things on my “to do” list.

URBAN HOME-STAND
Thank you for coming up and making our first( of hopefully many) “Homestand’s” a positive and successful event (estimated nearly 200 dropped in throughout the day). Also a big thank you to those who came bearing homemade gifts and complimentary comments. We appreciate your support!
JANUARY 2011 HARVEST TALLY
Here we are again, a new year and a new tally. After last years record breaking harvest of over 3 1/2 tons ( 7,000 pounds ) of produce, will be interesting to see what this year will bring. And as any farmer knows it all depends on the weather and keeping the plants healthy to ward off disease and bag bugs.
Urban Homestead’s 2010 Year in Review
I know it’s a bit overdue (thanks to busy & rough start to the new year) and, honestly, I was putting it off because I am having a really BAD case of writer’s block…. but here it goes!
EXTREME MAKEOVER
Twenty-five years ago when we purchased this old 1917 (fixer upper) house it came with lots, LOTS, of problems. Problems that we didn’t have the money at the time to fix.
AROUND THE URBAN HOMESTEAD
Living in Southern California, there’s not really much down time for us homesteaders-farmers. Only one more month left in 2010 and already projects and plans are being hatched for 2011.
TAG-A-LONGS
Usually our backyard barnyard is relatively calm; yet, ever so often there is an occasional cackle of a laying hen. Back in the summer, the peaceful animal kingdom was broken by some unusual quacking.
