Prayers were answered not once but twice last week! We enjoyed a few days of rain - what a blessing! Forecasters are predicting that there are more storms on the horizon, so let's continue to pray that they are right because we really, really do NEED the rain and that means Justin is out of a job for awhile - yeah!
Of course, this first chance of rain in the new year made us all go into a tissy, getting the garden ready to receive the liquid blessings.
Wildflower seeds were scattered, seedlings transplanted, blueberries given a caffeine boost (leftover coffee grounds), etc. I'll have to post pics of the garden soon. In fact, we are doing a few yard re-dos, especially the front garden. Working on making it more "people" friendly.

Central Texas just received from 3-7 inches of rain overnight. It was wonderful albeit the flooding in some areas has been a hassle. So in need of it. One of our major lakes is only 37% full. Hope the runoff helps it.
Texas really needs the rain.

When my family lived in southern Arizona we could always tell someone was a "snowbird" and temporary visitor if they complained when it rained! Unlike Texas, which occasionally is deluged, we got so little there that natives never complained about rain!!
It's been a curiosity to me to live here in Texas where we can go from praying desperately for rain to praying it will stop.

OK so glad to here about the rain! So heres the deal . Either yall come and fix my yard like yours or I will have to move to your house. LOL
LOL. You could move it; however, I doubt there's be any space as we are already cramped. So guess that means we have to come and fix your yard!
We are in the middle of the throes of winter here in northwest Indiana but so far it has been mild. Too mild, as a matter of fact. I worry about our water table too & wonder if it will be woefully lacking come spring & summer.
Anyway, so glad you're getting the rain! Long may it fall.

Tis been a mild winter here too... just like you, we worry about water....and snow. No snow no water for us here in LA. Hope you get some of the liquid stuff there too.
I'm on the Texas Gulf Coast and it is raining right now!! Thank the Lord!!
We are currently 27 inches below normal. The Brazos River has been a muddy trickle for much of the past year. Good to hear the rain and smell that good rain smell.
We are praising the Lord for rain last night! It is much needed here in Central Texas.
We are also thankful that there was no damaging winds, hail or tornadoes. It's always good to thank the Lord for those things when you live in Texas. 
Flooding was an issue, but it's kind of a given with a good rain in these parts.

Rained in Oklahoma City last night first time in a long while real cold nights but nice days lately and the wind it do blow on the plains. but would miss it if it didn't .
I have heard that Oklahoma has more flying days than any place in the states.

I never knew that you should put coffee grounds in with blueberries? What does it help with?
This winter for us in Utah has been pretty dry, I am starting to get a little worried about water come spring/summer. They say our reservoirs are just fine and we will be ok, but it still makes me nervous.
BTW I saw a preview for a new show called Doomsday something and your family was in it!
On a great and very exciting note for my husband and I we will be official beekeepers this year. We have gotten our hives and are putting them together:) So any beekeeping post and info would be great:) wink wink one more step for us on becoming self sustainable!

I saw the trailer for it online somewhere while I was cruising around. I think it said it airs on Feb. 7th. We are cutting our cable off soon so I hope NatGeo post it online to watch.

It has been balmy and mild here in N. Florida for the last few weeks. The Japanese magnolias are blooming and so are the camellias. Alas, I am afraid they won't last because the cold usually makes a comeback this time of year. I'm enjoying this while I can, though.
Loving the Rain. Just up the coast. I pulled trees in pots out to get a dowsing, tubs under down spouts, checking on chickens getting them rain water they love it. Checking on the worms they loved it too! Funny how today is sooooo sunny and full of wind.

So loved the soft rain we had this last week! I am just south of you all in Dana Point, CA. Got out on the deck today and planted some little seeds, plants and bulbs, and cleaned up after the rains. The garden is producing peas, lettuce, celery, chard, broccoli, and Kale. My winter tomatoes seem done. Getting some other things planted. I gave our blueberries a boost before the rain too.
Oh, I have been loving the rain...It's funny, because I live right near the ocean...but even here, we still need the rain. The local farmers have been really grateful for it, too. That would be nice if we get some more in the next fe days. Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather
Some snow and cold weather--some rain--lots of sun. Made marinara sauce yesterday in the sun oven. will plant garden starts in April, but have bok choi growing in pots in the window along with trays and trays of micro greens. Sprouts on the counter, too. Enjoying winter this year.
Anais, hardly any moisture here in Nebraska for the month of January. We've only had a couple dustings of snow which has amounted to .07 of an inch of moisture. The average for January is .70 of an inch, so we are starting the year at a deficit. Some of my favorite weather is to arrive tomorrow. It has been predicted for a 60% chance of freezing rain mixed with snow and 40 MPH wind gusts. I'm staying inside with a blanket over my lap, hot chocolate in my hand, and a TV remote in the other hand.
