THEY’RE HERE!
Looking for something to inspire you (and others) to pioneer a more sustainable path throughout the upcoming new year?
A nice BIG stack of 2012 “Little Homestead in the City” calendars now sit on the dinning room table ready to find good homes.
I OCCUPY….
A reader recently commented on our award winning short film Homegrown Revolution that’s on YouTube saying: “When you can do this….you don’t need to Occupy Wall Street. You can abandon Wall Street.” So, our goats decided to jump in on the action…..
CANNING CAPTION WINNER IS…
Boy howdy, this contest sure was a tough one since there was really NO wrong answer….
We did enjoy reading through all of the comments – thanks to everyone who entered and shared his or her views on captioning the pic! The many comments gave us a good chuckle; however, these were the ones we liked the most
PUTTING UP: Tomato Sauce
Thanks to an extended summer harvest season, I’m getting my canning groove back after a month hiatus.
I certainly wasted no time in putting up… it was time to put up or shut up! No more dawdling (well, not that I WAS but … )
Another GIVEAWAY! CAN YOU?
Our readers have been taking shots at captioning this amusing photo from one of our recent canning class, so thought perhaps we should host another GIVEAWAY!
YES, WE CAN!
I’ve done canning classes plenty times before but this one was the biggest group of gals, thanks to the lovely Pantalone family and their spacious kitchen which was big enough to handle 15 ladies and loads of berries & beans.
FRONT PORCH FARM STAND
Support local foods & farms. Front Porch Farm Stand is open Sun thru Fri 10 am to 6 pm.
HOW TO SAVE A LIFE
Unfortunately, once again learned of another friend’s tragic passing. He was struck and killed just a few blocks from our home.
RAIN!
Don’t you just love it when the season’s change. The damp and nippy weather means a couple things: sweaters, scarves, socks and soup…. And snuggling up with a kitty and knitting project.
BITS n’ PIECES
Over the last 25 years, we’ve been slowly getting rid of as many electrical gadgets and gizmos as possible. Of course, we still have these computers, a necessary vice; but with this recent acquisition of a 1928 hand- powered sewing machine, we are a tad bit closer to our ultimate goal of being “unplugged.”
