Nothing says summer like homegrown tomatoes - eat 'em raw with a bit of salt. Bliss!
Tomatoes have a right to have an entire post of their own don't you think? Farmer Justin grew some beauties this year and so I figure on showing them off. To help get you in the "tomato fashion show" mood: sit back, sip your cuppa, play the little ditty and feast your eyes... coming down the runway now are some plump, well rounded homegrown beauties.

Here's a little juicy tidbit: we actually had the pleasure of having Jay & Molly over at the urban homestead for lunch and a bit of good ol' time music.

Gorgeous! My tomatoes have been glorious this year as well. I hope you have a few of your varieties seeds for sale!
We love the Hillbilly tomatoes. They are HUGE, have very little seeds, and are great for both slicing a processing.
My favorite heirloom to grow/eat is the Pink Lady heirloom Roma. Big, delicious, and beautiful! This is my first year growing heirlooms and They've actually out-produced the Better Boy hybrids I have growing alongside them. Next year we'll do 100 percent heirlooms. They taste better and produce like crazy once they get started!
Our Amish paste and brandywines look pretty good this year. The neighbors are amazed at how delicious they taste--intensive flavors! We bought the seeds from Freedom Seeds. We'll be getting more next spring. We had 100% success from these seeds, which we have NEVER experienced with any other seed company. Kudos, Anais!
Oh my goodness, I have so many tomatoes coming on. Only one is ready to pick so far it's a BIG Cherokee Purple (saving it for tonight). I had to plant a wee bit late this year so I'm going to have a late harvest, but that's ok since we have nice weather til about October.
Anyhoo ... I have Cherokee Purple, Brandywine, San Marzano (they're looking weird though) and Cherry. I just got in from tying them up some more because they were laying about from all the fruit pulling them down. I didn't have anymore twine so I used wide purple curling ribbon. It looks like I've gift wrapped my tomatoes! Ha ha.
i bought some of your seeds this year and am loving the nebraska wedding tomatoes i grew! im going to try some of your other varieties next spring

Those are beauties! This year we're growing Roma and Cherokee Purple. I haven't grown Cherokees before, so it's exciting to see how they'll turn out.

I L-O-V-E heirloom tomatoes... so far this season, my own favourite has been Black Krim. It's big and meaty, nearly seedless, and absolutely bursting with sweet-smoky flavour. Amazing!
Runners up definitely include Tigerella and Box Car Willie.
I am growing 8 heirlooms in the upside down way, plus 6 jet stars and some Romas and yellow grape tomatoes. I don't know that I have a favorite amonst the heirloom. I love them all. I have had tomatoes for lunch and dinner almost every day for the last 2 weeks. Plain tomato sandwiches, BLTs, Broiled english muffins with tomatoes and fresh mozzarella, even some fresh gazpacho! Love this time of the year! Must check out your seeds for next spring!
This year, I decided to do Cherokee Purple (my all-time fav), Dr. Wyche's yellow, and an heirloom Pink Brandywine.
The harvest is late this year in Southern Cal, and to top that off, a oppossum has eaten way-too many of my harvest.
But besides that, the rest are starting to come in and delicious. Time to put some up for winter eating!
