CABBAGE HEAD HOMESTEADERS
Remember those cabbage patch dolls? Well, I do! All the girls my age had to have them and my grandma got me one waaaay back when. But here on the urban homestead, thanks to our farmers here, we have (er modeled) our very own "homegrown" version.
As you can tell, we don't have cable.... so have to keep ourselves amused somehow, either that or we have a bad case of spring fever!
Oh, in case you didn't notice Jordanne's head is bigger than mine (all that coding I suppose)
Grow yer own!

As a child of the 70's, I think this is so cute!!! Thanks for not having cable!
Very imaginitive! I don't have any tv either! Thank God! You girls a wonderful! Says Grandma! C
Y'all give the French phrase "mon petit chou " another dimension! Enfin, chere.
Very cute! Yes, I don't think it's so bad to do with out Cable! We don't watch anything but movies and LOST on Tuesday nights (I can't help it, I am addict!). And I think my boys have more of an imagination for it! And that is NOT a bad thing! I don't know that my boys would know what to do with a TV channel. We haven't had channels for 3 years (up until the LOST premiere this season, and we bought some "bunny ears" for the TV), and so they don't remember much about regular TV, which is NOT a bad thing.
As always, love the pics! And your "Homestead Humor" ...
You guys are so silly!
never know what you guys are going to do next!

Wow, those are fantastic! Congrats! Hubby made homemade sauerkraut for the first time last month with all the cabbage we had from our CSA not getting eaten, and he's loving it.
Here in Missouri, we are still very very cold! I would love one of those big beautiful cabbages! I'm also loving that yours are deep green and have NO BUG HOLES! I would love for you to tell us how you handle garden pests (or do you have any?).
Thanks for sharing that gorgeous photo! I was a young Mom in the 80's and OF COURSE my eldest had to have a cabbage patch doll! They weren't nearly as cute as you and your sister are "all dolled up" from the garden!
Ahhh.. I can't believe it! It'll be a while before we even plant!

What fun! Thanks for the big smile before work.
Loved cabbage patch kids growing up! We don't have cable either. Being outside is so much better.
Those are the most beautiful cabbages I've ever seen. Wish mine would turn out so nice.
i don't see any insect damage on those cabbage. how do you do it
Y'all crack me up!
Those are some good looking heads of cabbage too. Ya making sauerkraut? YUM!
I'm itching for spring to get here on this frozen mountaintop. It's supposed to be in the 60's Saturday (after having snow and freezing temps earlier this week, lol).
Hehehe - beautiful heads. I wouldn't have tv if I could be outside year around! I am cold enough INside!
JennaMO, woodcutter and Laura - I am with ya! I feel your pain! The seeds are in the stores now so THAT makes me feel a bit better. Only 8 more weeks till planting season.
I think you give new meaning to "Cabbage Patch Dolls."
