A journal of modern day pioneers forging a new frontier in the city through intensive agriculture and extreme sustainability in urban homesteading.

Reviving the old-fashioned "can-do" spirit of self-reliance and resourcefulness, they have faced many challenges. With faith and determination, these once-ordinary city dwellers are boldly reclaiming their lives and land. continue

THANK YOU

Friends, family, readers, supporters & volunteers

This winter we celebrated our 10 year anniversary of being online.  What a decade it has been!

Looking back we’ve had our share of valleys and peaks but as 2009 we’d like to take this time to thank our supporters who have taken the time and supported us in many ways either with encouraging emails,  letters, gifts (some handmade), donations and or online purchases via our two stores Peddlers Wagon and Freedom Seeds

We are truly blessed to have had this opportunity to have inspired the birth of the modern urban homesteading movement and share our sustainable journey with you.

Wishing everyone a blessed, productive and healthy new year!

The Dervaes family

Dear Anais,
Have caught up on the families travels as I relaxed this afternoon after a wonderful Christmas lunch. Made a terrific read. What an incredible journey you undertook.
Thank you for a wonderful blog.
A happy Christmas from the “land downunder”.
Cheers to you and 10 years online.
Anita

Hello Dervaes Family – I am very pleased to find that you have published a calendar! It’s a great idea and I am looking forward to receiving it. It will inspire me all year. It’s snowing here now…most of the 21″ we got last week has melted, but a big storm is predicted for the end of the week. Yikes! I will stay in and plan next year’s garden.

Hope you had a nice holiday and best wishes for a Happy New Year –

From Martha in snowy CT
