I know many of our local readers wonder what happened to our monthly FILM & FOOD NIGHTS.   Well, these last three months we have been busy – been out & about in the community, participating in a slew of film festivals and giving talks/presentations.

We also needed a bit of a break from hosting these events (they take up A LOT of time – more so than people would think) to be able to take a journey and a few other adventures with our family.

So, please join us for our upcoming November Film & Food Night

When: Sunday, November 22  (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM)

The statistics are terrifying.

Two hundred million Americans are overweight and 100 million are obese. More than 75 million Americans have high blood pressure. 24 million people are diabetic. Heart disease remains the No. 1 cause of death for men and women, followed by stroke and obesity-related cancers. Obesity is about to overtake tobacco as the No. 1 cause of preventable deaths in the United States.

60% of bankruptcies are caused by what has become known as “medical debt.”

Fast food, fast medicine, fast news and fast lives have turned many Americans into a sick, uninformed, indebted, “processed” people.

Processed People features insightful interviews from nine preeminent health and environmental experts/advocates. They discuss how and why Americans got into this mess, and what we can do to break the “processed people” cycle

Harvest 100 Mile Potluck

Celebrate the season of bountiful blessings and thanksgiving.

Bring something (preferably vegetarian) to contribute to the potluck – bring enough food for yourself/family and a bit to share. The primary focus of the ‘Locavore’ potluck is to promote eating whole foods, in their nature-made state, focusing on fresh food from local sources (or as local as possible)

If not FROM BACKYARD then locally produced.
If not LOCALLY PRODUCED, then Organic.
If not ORGANIC, then Family farm.
If not FAMILY FARM, then Local business.
If not a LOCAL BUSINESS, then Fair Trade.

Freedom Garden Swap N Meet

Join local homegrown revolutionaries – swap crops, seeds, expertise and more.

Growing for 21st century food security, FreedomGardens.org is a free interactive, online social community of gardening enthusiasts who are fed up with foreign oil, frequent food miles and high food prices.
