She wanted her parents to move to the city and work city jobs so they could earn more money and have a better life and then retire and enjoy their sunset years. Laura replied that she already had her retirement home in the country, long lazy lanes to walk and time to spend with neighbors and friends. She was living the life that her daughter wanted her to work in the city to have later.
