It's true that we spend a lot of time in the garden, but not like ALL day as some people believe. When people ask about about our lifestyle I describe it to them in very simple terms, "it is like a family farm - just small and in the city."
But that doesn't mean we spend all day "slaving" away in the garden. After 20 years the garden pretty much takes care of itself. By that I mean it's established and all we really have to do is tend and keep it.
However, there are other projects that keep us busy! Stay tuned for the sweet, gooey details.

I just watched your Homegrown Revolution video on YouTube. In one of the scenes, you are using a hand-cranked washing machine. Where does one buy one of these (or did you build it yourself?) I have only seen a tiny version of this in the Lehman's Non-Electric catalog (it looks like about 5 gallons, max) as well as an old-fashioned electric machine with separate wringer/roller (like the one we used when I was a kid.)

Wow those nasturtiums look hardy , I love them so , they make such a wonderful salad addition !!
rob: those are loquats! (a.k.a. Chinese quinces) Unless you live somewhere as warm as Southern California or warmer, you may never have seen them -- and even living here, I really think a lot of people have them for landscaping purposes only and don't know how delicious they are.
That is some gorgeous broccoli you've got there.
Did you see the heart in the loquats. Look at the photo, must be all the love of gardening that the garden is sending back a message.
