June Gloom phenomenon in July?
June was unseaonably hot and in July we are expericing overast, "glooming" mornings. Even the evenings are cool. Last night during the party (photos to come) we had to hand out flannels because the weather turned chilly.

Not that I object in any way to our break in the heat, but the phrase "June gloom" has been used here a couple times to describe the weather this week - we are so baffled by the weather this year!
Speaking of spreading the message I just saw this video of Matt Simmons, head of the oil investment bank Simmons and Company International,where he is asked what we should do about high gas prices, he suggests we put a floor under them and keep raising it as prices go up; we start living in villages and growing our own food; we eliminate long distance commuting; and we start an unprecedented R&D effort into alternatives. Needless to say, the talk show hosts gasp in disbelief. Priceless.
