Well, Belinda, Mr Spanky's busy being cat (as you can see from the photo), so we apologize for his delaying in getting back with you. He tells me that those wire trellises that his owners place over the newly planted beds do a good job at keeping his kind from using it as a litter box. The trellises allow the plants to grow but deter animals from digging up the new beds. Once the bed's established then off come the trellises.
Not everyone has these nifty dual use trellises. Any of our readers have other suggestions to help Belinda deter the neighbor's cat from messing her garden. Care to share your methods or tips?

P.S. Did you address the salad-growing, yet, and I missed it? Just wondering, no pressure. I know you are VERY busy.
Is that "trellis" actually concrete reinforcement wire? I use that stuff extensively to grow stuff vertically as well as for the EXACT same thing you mention above - to keep maurading felines from inappropriate fertilization. (because of the many plants, my yard is a haven for my two cats, the neighbor's cats and a group of strays that we feed).

I will see what I can do about wire options. Recently heard I have some more freecycled chicken wire arriving soon so that should help.

That is the cutest picture!
I was just trying to figure out how to get a certain brown cat out of my garden too lately! I had many suggestions which I put in my blog here:

but in the end I did something similar which was stapling regular garden netting onto my raised beds and then I will just cut a bit of it when the plants are in. It's more flexible than wire. You can see a pic of it here:
